7:00 a.m. and this is my view to the east. Beautiful.
This is my view to the west. Note to self....Don't look west!! :)
This is the "across the road" view. South side.
Our pond is over there.
Evening is coming view. Barn on the west side.
Kitchen sink view. Not really the kitchen at the moment, but the cleaning (and shaving) center.
Gotta load something in the van view. Joys of dirt road livin'!!!
Just finished hanging the clothes view.
That surprise got a scream out of me!! (and a laugh from everyone else) I was busy trying not to notice the pile of garbage my clean clothes were hanging over. I wasn't expecting a body-less face!!
And a series of views of the kitchen wall. First we peeled off layers of wall paper, only to decide that the plaster was in rough enough shape to warrant new dry-wall. Glad we made that decision. No insulation at the top!!! That's gonna change for sure. :)
the old lathe
Where's the insulation? All settled to the bottom half.
The added "pink stuff" will help keep some heat in this winter.
Maybe these need replacing to help with heat loss as well eh?
The saga continues one day, one room (or part of room) at a time!
Yes we replaced those old style of windows last year but plastic and a hair dryer would be ok for the first winter if it saves time. Do you have a washing machine? or was that by hand? Your clothes will smell so nice when you bring them in. What's in the pond? any fish? Loved your east, south and evening views! Did you think of anything that you forgot to bring from Ontario that your Mom and I could bring? Do you have a big roaster that we can cook a chicken in? Just in case the cabin doesn't have one? So glad you took the time to add some insulation! that will help. Can't wait to see your beautiful kitchen stove when it gets there. You will have to get socks and sweatshirts out. It is so cosy working in the fall when you can dress for it! Love to you all.
ReplyDeleteI've been going to town and using the laundry-mat.
ReplyDeleteNot sure about fish in the pond, but heard there is a family of geese that nest there every spring/summer and there are muskrats :)
We didn't leave anything behind, and yes we have a large roaster you can use. We are already looking forward to that chicken dinner :) love and hugs
thanks for the pics - great to have a view !!! funny one of Rueben :D
ReplyDeletecareful what you plant in the trees ! you might have the SHERIFF and helicopter visiting to check it out ! got other messages keep us posted - love to all
feel for you all - pulling down layers of wallpaper to then tear the wall apart - oh and cool about the magazine - you get to start before us - we have been delayed last couple of visits planned - hmmm enemy stratedgy maybe?
ReplyDeleteand hugs
Yes, it would have been nice to not peel first...just tear it all down. Oh well. :) drywall and mud is almost done then on with the primer and wall-paper. We bought wallpaper to hide the old walls, no need for that now I guess but it's bought and will make it look more old-fashion :)
Deleteyes wall paper does suit the older farm houses but do make sure you do a good job of the glue as I have not had great success with it.
