I can now identify with a yo-yo.
Our house sold rather quickly but the closing date bounced around a bit.
First it was Aug 15. Then a possible Aug 31. Then it was officially Sept 23.
And now it is firmly at Aug 30.
How firmly is firmly? I wonder. Blah.
Here's hoping.
At least I felt free enough to start packing.
Now I have a Mover To-Do list....
- Scour grocery stores for boxes
- Save flyers for wrapping and protecting the fragile stuff
- Buy mattress covers
- Reserve a U-Hal.
- Clean the appliances that are staying behind
- Get in a few good-byes
- Get info to the real-estate lawyer.
- Contact the utilities.
Anything else I am missing?

A Wee Boost.
I met a 71 year old neighbour today.
The trees out front of the house haven't been worried about keeping up appearances and have continued to drop their "stuff" all over the front porch and walk-way regardless of the For Sale sign stuck in the front yard.
And although our house is mostly sold, (we are just waiting on the notice of removal of financing, which we are assured is coming) I want to keep things tidy for the new buyers.
So this morning before the heat of the day kicked in I was out sweeping up all the orange, dusty, tree stuff.
Along comes a spunky, little, seventy-one-years-young gal out for her daily power walk.
"Hello, says she, don't mean to be nosy but heard from a neighbour that you're moving out East?"
"Yep", says I, "bought us a hobby farm."
"Can I tell you about my son?" she asks.
And she launches into a story that for me was a God-sent tale of encouragement.
Because just last night, after hearing the farm water needs work (failed the water test) and that our house was sold (mostly) I had a moment of doubt and said "That's OK we don't need to move".
I felt tired and overwhelmed and quite frankly wondered "What the lollipop do we think we're doing?!?"
But back to this lady's son and his wife.
A year and a half ago they quit his twenty year long job, sold her business, packed it all up and moved to New Brunswick where they bought a 100 acre organic apple orchard. Son is 56, daughter-in-law 40. And they are LOVING their new life. Out pruning trees, picking apples, making cider and vinegar, making and selling stuff at market, and totally not looking back!!
Well, talk about a God moment. I thanked her for stopping to encourage me, told her I have my moments where I wonder whether we have lost-our-cotton-pickin'-mind....I mean at our age!!!
And she blurted out....."Dear, you aren't old! Pack it all up and get the H-E-double-hockey-sticks outta here! " (Gasp! Grandma, watch your language please!) "Get going!" she said and "Enjoy this adventure!!"
Well, maybe we will do just that. I mean we are a tad younger then the Organic Apple Farmer. :) If he can do it, what's stopping us!
Ok. Up-date on the sale of our house and our up-and-coming move.
The condition of financing has been met and they are asking to extend the closing date. This works out perfectly since the owners of the farm are still needing to find a place to down-size too. Three weeks was feeling a little cramped for all of us. I don't have the exact date yet, but it will be some time near the end of August. I can live with that. It still gets us there a couple of months before winter to wrap things up as tight as we can get it BUT .....
I'm thinking that we will miss blueberry season. Sigh.
Oh well, we'll get some of those little balls of wild blue goodness next year. :)

Offer Accepted!
Only one offer.
(Which we knew about a few days ago.)
Folks really want the place though. Offered one thousand over asking price!!
Only one condition of financing....with five business days to remove it.
We are pretty happy about it!!
Turns out they are Christians.
I had been praying that Christians would buy it...keep the testimony of Jesus in the neighbourhood.
And it's usually suggested that all religious paraphernalia be "put in hiding" but my policy is....It's up to God to sell this place for us, so I'm not hiding away the fact that we trust in Him. Left all the Bible verses and texts where they were.
Guess it helped the buyers connect with the place.
Now we wait until Thursday to see if the bank will give 'em a loan.
I'm not worried. God's got this!

Not Quite There .....Yet.
Greetings,
It's time to start a new blog, gone are the old ones. This next stage in our lives is going to be an adventure, of epic (and terrifying) proportions and it deserves an all-new, all-to-itself blog.
This is it.
It seems like we have lived a few lives already.
This October Geoff and I will have been married 27 years. It doesn't seem like that long and yet in that time we have managed to .....
Survive one house fire.
Walk through two brain surgeries.
Endure three operations.
Raise four kids.
Buy five houses. (one at a time)
Wear out six vehicles.
Move seven times.
Serve eight years at a ministry.
Nine? nine?....nine....... O.K. I got nothing for nine. ;)
Enjoy ten pets.
And a parrrrrrrrtridge in a pear treeeeeeeee.
I decided to start blogging this journey today because I have to kill time.
Here's a quick time line.
May 21, 2016 - We load up the van and head east.
May 23 - Arrive at Geoff's sister in NS and look at a property.
May 24 - June 3rd - "Sleep on it" while visiting family in NL.
June 4 - Put offer on said property and it's accepted
June 5 - July 1 - Travel home and work like crazy preparing the house for market
July 2 - For Sale sign goes up.
July 3 - 13 - Have six showings
July 14th - That's today!!......offer or offers will be presented.
We know there is at least one offer already written up and a couple more who said they would.
Now we have to wait until 6:00 p.m. to find out what's going to happen.
Hence I have time to kill, cause it's going to be a loooong day. In a good way.
There are many ways to have a long day. Some much harder then others. This is not one of the hard ways and I am thankful for that.
Today is most likely going to be the day when our new adventure starts for real.
It's going to be fun and exciting.
It's going to be scary and intimidating. .
It's going to mean lots of blood, sweat, tears and hard work.
It's going to prove to be interesting, challenging and fulfilling.
I'm not looking forward to the good-byes.
But I am looking forward to the project I've dubbed "Once Upon a Time Machine" Why?
Well, for a sneak peek.....this is the stove we're planning on putting in our kitchen.
(for you not-so-tech-savvy folks, click on the word "stove" ;) )
Like I said in the "About Me" section. It's a 170 year old house and we aren't planning on modernizing it. We plan on taking it back in time a bit.
How do you spell...... MAJOR learning curve?! I foresee some toast and cereal for dinner at times.
If you want to follow along with us, you are most welcome.
Hang on! It's going to be quite the ride!
